The officers have been identified as Joshua Eyer, of the Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department, and Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott, who worked for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, and US Deputy Marshal Thomas M. Weeks Jr.

Three U.S. Marshalls killed in shootout in Charlotte

Three U.S. Marshals were killed, and five officers were wounded after a suspect opened fire on them during a U.S. Marshals Task Force investigation in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday afternoon, according to police. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department initially reported that "numerous" officers were shot at the scene in the 5000 block of Galway Drive, which is in the Shannon Park neighborhood. One shooting suspect was found dead, and authorities are currently determining if multiple gunmen were involved. In addition to the three deceased U.S. Marshals Task Force officers, four Charlotte police officers were injured. One officer was injured critically.
